My good friend John Fox recently posted an amazing infographic regarding SEO. I had the fortune of interviewing John some ago: 30 Minutes of Awesome Startup Advice with John Fox.
According to John:
- Only 10% have the Basic Web Page Elements Correct
The Web Page Element Being Page Title, H1 Tag, and Meta- Description Tag. Most have it in good doses:
- 65% have a Good Page Title
- 39% have a Good Meta Description
- 32% have Good H1 Tags
Ouch!
I even had my own site scored:
Since I KNOW I’m not an SEO Expert I have no (well…maybe not THAT much) shame is showing my awesome score of 35. Obviously I need help.
I know by the Title you expected some mystical answer but I don’t have it. So let’s share.
Is your site properly optimized. Be honest.
Let’s hear it!

Mike,
I have to be honest: I am a SEO neophyte. I know its important but I really don’t understand the mechanics of it. It’s like a new language. I wish there was an SEO for dummies or something like that…cause in relation to this: I am a dummy
Greg,
I’m with you: I understand sanscript more than I understand SEO.
Ha! Sanscript…I love it!
You’re not the only one. You can tell I’m a dummy: look at my score! lol
Michael, thanks for posting my infographic and, especially, for sharing your score.
But as far as SEO goes, following the fundamentals are all that most websites need. And that, of course, is what FreeSEOScorecard.com is built for. You can interactively edit the key elements right on the scorecard and watch your score improve…instantly!
You can do it. Give it another try.
fox.
